MDL — Deadlift
01
MDL
3-Rep Max Deadlift
The MDL measures lower-body and grip strength using a hex bar. Soldiers perform 3 repetitions at maximum weight. Scores are based on the heaviest weight successfully lifted in pounds with proper form.
Equipment
Hex Bar (60 lbs) + Plates
100-pt Male Std
340 lbs
Min Pass (22-26 M)
180 lbs
Trains
Posterior chain, grip, core
02
SPT
Standing Power Throw
The SPT measures explosive total-body power using a 10-lb medicine ball thrown backward overhead. Two attempts are permitted; the longer throw is scored. Directly tests combat-relevant anaerobic power.
Equipment
10-lb Medicine Ball
100-pt Male Std
12.5 meters

03
HRP
Hand-Release Push-Up
The HRP measures upper-body endurance. After each push-up, soldiers lift both hands off the ground — preventing momentum cheating and requiring full range of motion. Maximum reps in 2 minutes.

Sprint-Drag-Carry
The most operationally relevant ACFT event. Five 50m lanes: Sprint → Sled Drag (90 lbs) → Lateral Shuffle → Farmer Carry (2×40-lb kettlebells) → Sprint. Tests total anaerobic power and muscular endurance.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

The minimum depends on your MOS category. Heavy (Black) and Significant (Gray) require 440 total points with a minimum 60 pts per event. Moderate (Gold) requires 360 points. Under the 2025 AFT, combat MOSs require 350 out of 500 points.
The Army replaced the ACFT with the AFT on June 1, 2025. Key changes: Standing Power Throw removed, 2-Mile Run replaced by choice of 4 cardio events, max score is now 500 (not 600), and combat MOSs use a sex-neutral standard.
ACFT scores convert to promotion points (E4–E6): 540–600 = 60 pts, 480–539 = 50 pts, 420–479 = 40 pts, 360–419 = 30 pts, below passing = 0 pts. Records from before May 31, 2025 remain valid through September 30, 2025.
Performance tiers: Distinguished (540–600 pts), Excellent (480–539), Proficient (420–479), Passing (360/440+). Distinguished earns maximum promotion points and is the Army's highest fitness performance benchmark.
Scoring tables are based on Army Regulation 350-1. Always verify with official Army publications. This calculator is for training estimation only — official scores are recorded in DTMS on test day.
All soldiers must take a record ACFT/AFT at least twice per year, recorded in DTMS. No administrative action for failing the new AFT combat standard until January 1, 2026.
